Samuel said to all the people of Israel,“ If you are really turning to the LORD with all your hearts, remove from among you the foreign gods and the images of Ashtoreth. Give your hearts to the LORD and serve only him. Then he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

撒母耳对以色列全家说：“你们若一心归顺耶和华，就要把外邦的神和亚斯他录从你们中间除掉，专心归向耶和华，单单地侍奉他。他必救你们脱离非利士人的手。”

撒母耳对以色列全家说：“你们若全心回转归向耶和华，就要从你们中间除掉外邦的神明和亚斯她录，预备你们的心归向耶和华，单单事奉他，他必救你们脱离非利士人的手。”

撒母耳对他们说：“如果你们全心归向耶和华，就要除掉你们那些外族的神明，包括亚斯她录神像，一心归向耶和华，单单事奉祂，祂必从非利士人手中救你们。”

于是撒母耳对以色列全家说：“如果你们一心归向耶和华，就当把外族的神和亚斯他录从你们中间除掉，专心归向耶和华，单单事奉他，他必救你们脱离非利士人的手。”

撒母耳就对以色列全家宣告说：“你们如果全心回转归向耶和华，就要把外邦的神明和亚斯她录从你们中间除掉，立定心志归向耶和华，唯独服事他。这样他就会解救你们脱离非利士人的手。”

撒母耳對以色列全家說：『你們若一心回轉來歸向永恆主，把外人的神從你們中間除掉，也除掉亞斯他錄，立定心意歸向永恆主，單單事奉他，他就援救你們脫離非利士人的手。』

撒母耳就對以色列全家宣告說：「你們如果全心回轉歸向耶和華，就要把外邦的神明和亞斯她錄從你們中間除掉，立定心志歸向耶和華，唯獨服事他。這樣他就會解救你們脫離非利士人的手。」

撒母耳告以色列家曰、如爾一心歸耶和華、則必除異族之神、及亞斯他錄於爾中、專心歸耶和華、而獨事之、則彼援爾於非利士人手、

撒母耳告以色列眾曰、如爾盡心歸耶和華、則他上帝及亞大綠、必絕於爾中、當備爾心、獨事耶和華、則彼援爾於非利士人手。

撒母耳謂以色列族之眾曰、如爾盡心歸主、則以異邦之神及諸亞斯他錄除於爾中、專心向主、獨崇事主、如此、主必援爾於非利士人之手、

So Samuel said to all the Israelites,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

So Samuel spoke to all the Israelites. He said,“ Do you really want to return to the Lord with all your hearts? If you do, get rid of your false gods. Get rid of your statues of female gods that are named Ashtoreth. Commit yourselves to the Lord. Serve him only. Then he will save you from the power of the Philistines.”

And Samuel said to all the house of Israel,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you and direct your heart to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel,“ If you want to return to the Lord with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the Lord and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

Samuel told them,“ If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, get rid of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths that are among you, set your hearts on the LORD, and worship only him. Then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to the Lord and serve Him alone; and He will save you from the hand of the Philistines.”

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto Jehovah with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

Samuel told them,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, get rid of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths that are among you, dedicate yourselves to the Lord, and worship only Him. Then He will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines.”

And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts,[ then] put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Jesus answered him,“ It is written,‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

You must follow the LORD your God and revere only him; and you must observe his commandments, obey him, serve him, and remain loyal to him.

Then Jesus said to him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written:‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

You must revere the LORD your God, serve him, and take oaths using only his name.

The wicked need to abandon their lifestyle and sinful people their plans. They should return to the LORD, and he will show mercy to them, and to their God, for he will freely forgive them.

Now obey the LORD and worship him with integrity and loyalty. Put aside the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt and worship the LORD.

Joshua said,“ Now put aside the foreign gods that are among you and submit to the LORD God of Israel.”

When they return to you with all their heart and being in the land where they are held prisoner, and direct their prayers to you toward the land you gave to their ancestors, your chosen city, and the temple I built for your honor,

“ Yet even now,” the LORD says,“ return to me with all your heart– with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your garments!”Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and boundless in loyal love– often relenting from calamitous punishment.

“ Come on! Let’s return to the LORD! He himself has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us! He has injured us, but he will bandage our wounds!He will restore us in a very short time; he will heal us in a little while, so that we may live in his presence.

Revere the LORD your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name.

God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Then if you and your descendants turn to the LORD your God and obey him with your whole mind and being just as I am commanding you today,the LORD your God will reverse your captivity and have pity on you. He will turn and gather you from all the peoples among whom he has scattered you.Even if your exiles are in the most distant land, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.Then he will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you also will possess it; he will do better for you and multiply you more than he did your ancestors.The LORD your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.Then the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies, on those who hate you and persecute you.You will return and obey the LORD, keeping all his commandments I am giving you today.The LORD your God will make the labor of your hands abundantly successful and multiply your children, the offspring of your cattle, and the produce of your soil. For the LORD your God will once more rejoice over you to make you prosperous just as he rejoiced over your ancestors,if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this scroll of the law. But you must turn to him with your whole mind and being.

The Israelites again did evil in the LORD’s sight. They worshiped the Baals and the Ashtars, as well as the gods of Syria, Sidon, Moab, the Ammonites, and the Philistines. They abandoned the LORD and did not worship him.

“ And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the LORD examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

Now seek the LORD your God wholeheartedly and with your entire being! Get up and build the sanctuary of the LORD God! Then you can bring the ark of the LORD’s covenant and the holy items dedicated to God’s service into the temple that is built to honor the LORD.”

So Jacob told his household and all who were with him,“ Get rid of the foreign gods you have among you. Purify yourselves and change your clothes.

‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me,

Throw away all your sins you have committed and fashion yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why should you die, O house of Israel?

Yes, the LORD has this to say to the people of Judah and Jerusalem:“ Like a farmer breaking up hard unplowed ground, you must break your rebellious will and make a new beginning; just as a farmer must clear away thorns lest the seed is wasted, you must get rid of the sin that is ruining your lives.Just as ritual circumcision cuts away the foreskin as an external symbol of dedicated covenant commitment, you must genuinely dedicate yourselves to the LORD and get rid of everything that hinders your commitment to me, people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. If you do not, my anger will blaze up like a flaming fire against you that no one will be able to extinguish. That will happen because of the evil you have done.”

“ No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

They abandoned the LORD and worshiped Baal and the Ashtars.

everyone who has determined to follow God, the LORD God of his ancestors, even if he is not ceremonially clean according to the standards of the temple.”

Nevertheless you have done some good things; you removed the Asherah poles from the land and you were determined to follow the LORD.”

“ As for you, if you prove faithful, and if you stretch out your hands toward him,if iniquity is in your hand– put it far away, and do not let evil reside in your tents.

The intentions of the heart belong to a man, but the answer of the tongue comes from the LORD.

They threw away the foreign gods they owned and worshiped the LORD. Finally the LORD grew tired of seeing Israel suffer so much.

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for your sin has been your downfall!

They placed Saul’s armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths and hung his corpse on the city wall of Beth Shan.
