The ark remained at Kiriath Jearim a long time— twenty years in all. Then all the people of Israel turned back to the Lord.

The ark remained at Kiriath Jearim for a long time. It was there for a full 20 years. Then all the Israelites turned back to the Lord.

From the day that the ark was lodged at Kiriath-jearim, a long time passed, some twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord.

我必引领他们回来，他们必一路含泪祷告。我要使他们走在溪水边，行在平坦的路上，他们必不会跌倒，因为我是以色列的父亲，以法莲是我的长子。

耶和华说：“不忠贞的子民啊，归来吧！我要医治你们不忠贞的病。”他们说：“是的，我们要到你面前，因为你是我们的上帝耶和华。在高山丘陵上狂欢、拜偶像真是枉然，唯有我们的上帝耶和华才能拯救以色列。“从我们年幼时，那些可耻的神像就吞噬了我们祖先辛苦得来的牛羊和儿女。我们躺在自己的羞耻中，让我们的耻辱遮盖我们吧！因为我们和我们的祖先都得罪了我们的上帝耶和华，我们自幼至今一直没有顺服我们的上帝耶和华。”

“我必将施恩和祷告的灵浇灌在大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民身上。他们必仰望我——他们所刺的那位，如丧独子一般为祂哀伤，如丧长子一般为祂痛哭。到那天，耶路撒冷必一片哀声，犹如米吉多平原的哈达临门的哀声。

合乎上帝心意的忧伤会带来悔改，使人得到救恩，永不后悔，但世俗的忧伤只会带来死亡。你们看，合乎上帝心意的忧伤使你们产生了何等的迫切感啊！你们热切地辩明自己的立场，对罪愤慨，恐惧战抖，期盼与我相见，疾恶如仇，惩处罪恶。你们在各方面已显明自己在那件事上是清白的。
