Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben- ezer, saying, Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying,“ Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

Then Samuel got a big stone. He set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer. He said,“ The Lord has helped us every step of the way.”

Therefore was the name of it called Galeed:and Mizpah, for he said, Jehovah watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.If thou shalt afflict my daughters, and if thou shalt take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold the pillar, which I have set betwixt me and thee.This heap be witness, and the pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah- nissi;

And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.And he called the name of that place Beth- el: but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and encamped beside Eben- ezer: and the Philistines encamped in Aphek.

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne by me from their birth, that have been carried from the womb;and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver.

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of Jehovah.And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us; for it hath heard all the words of Jehovah which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness against you, lest ye deny your God.

In that day shall there be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to Jehovah.

O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb; Thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: My praise shall be continually of thee.

And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.For Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over;that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye may fear Jehovah your God for ever.
