烈火行在他的面前，燒盡他四圍的敵人。他的閃電照亮世界，大地看見了就震撼。

他以黑暗作他的藏身處，以眾水的黑暗、天空的烏雲作他四周的帷幕。冰雹和火炭從他面前的光輝中而出，穿過了烏雲。耶和華在天上發出雷鳴，至高者發出他的聲音，伴隨著冰雹和火炭；他發出箭矢，使仇敵四散，發出眾多閃電，使他們潰亂。

他應聲告訴我說：「這是耶和華對所羅巴伯說的話：『不是靠勢力，不是靠能力，而是靠我的靈。』萬軍之耶和華說：

隨後有閃電、聲音和雷鳴，又發生了大地震，自從地上有人以來，沒有發生過如此大、如此厲害的地震。那大城裂為三個部分，列國的城市也都倒塌了。神也想起大巴比倫，要把自己烈怒之酒的杯子遞給她。所有的海島都逃避了，山嶺也不見了。又有重約四十公斤的大冰雹，從天上落在人身上；由於這冰雹的災害，人們就褻瀆了神，因為這災害極其厲害。
