So the men of Kiriath jearim came to get the Ark of the Lord. They took it to the hillside home of Abinadab and ordained Eleazar, his son, to be in charge of it.

So the men of Kiriath Jearim came and took up the ark of the Lord. They brought it to Abinadab’s house on the hill and consecrated Eleazar his son to guard the ark of the Lord.

He led them to Baalah of Judah to bring back the Ark of God, which bears the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, who is enthroned between the cherubim.They placed the Ark of God on a new cart and brought it from Abinadab’s house, which was on a hill. Uzzah and Ahio, Abinadab’s sons, were guiding the cartthat carried the Ark of God. Ahio walked in front of the Ark.

The boundary then made a turn and swung south along the western edge of the hill facing Beth horon, ending at the village of Kiriath baal( that is, Kiriath jearim), a town belonging to the tribe of Judah. This was the western boundary.

So David summoned all Israel, from the Shihor Brook of Egypt in the south all the way to the town of Lebo hamath in the north, to join in bringing the Ark of God from Kiriath jearim.Then David and all Israel went to Baalah of Judah( also called Kiriath jearim) to bring back the Ark of God, which bears the name of the Lord who is enthroned between the cherubim.They placed the Ark of God on a new cart and brought it from Abinadab’s house. Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the cart.

Get out! Get out and leave your captivity, where everything you touch is unclean. Get out of there and purify yourselves, you who carry home the sacred objects of the Lord.

So they sent messengers to the people at Kiriath jearim and told them,“ The Philistines have returned the Ark of the Lord. Come here and get it!”

We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.
