So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and said,“ Send the ark of the god of Israel away; let it go back to its own place, or it will kill us and our people.” For death had filled the city with panic; God’s hand was very heavy on it.

永恆主的手重重地擊打亞實突人，使他們淒涼，用鼠疫疱擊打他們，打亞實突和它的四境。

摩押必被消滅、不再成為一族之民，因為他向永恆主妄自尊大。永恆主發神諭說：摩押的居民哪，恐怖、陷坑、機檻、都臨到你身上了！那逃避恐怖的、必墜入陷坑；那從陷坑中上來的、必被機檻纏住；因為當他們被察罰的年日我必使這些災禍臨到摩押：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

故此人的手都必發軟，人都必膽戰心驚；他們都要驚惶失措。疼痛和劇疼必將他們抓住；他們必翻騰絞痛、像生產的婦人一樣；他們相顧駭愕，臉上都顯着劇疼的氣色。看吧，永恆主的日子來到，必有殘忍、震怒和烈怒，使這地荒涼，並從其中除滅重罪的人。

他們就打發人去把非利士人的眾霸主聚集到他們那裏，說：『我們要怎樣處置以色列上帝的櫃呢？』他們說：『讓以色列上帝的櫃轉運到迦特去吧』；於是將以色列上帝的櫃轉運到迦特去。轉運到了以後，永恆主的手攻擊那城，那城非常紛亂驚慌；又擊打那城的人、無論大小都暴發了鼠疫疱。
