When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah who were his friends, saying,“ Here’s a gift for you from the looting of the LORD’s enemies!”

When David reached Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying,“ Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”

David reached Ziklag. He sent some of the goods to the elders of Judah. They were his friends. He said,“ Here’s a gift for you. It’s part of the things we took from the Lord’ s enemies.”

When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying,“ Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord.”

When he arrived at Ziklag, David sent part of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends.“ Here is a present for you, taken from the Lord’s enemies,” he said.

When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying,“ Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the LORD’s enemies.”

Now when David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the spoils to the elders of Judah, to his friends, saying,“ Behold, a gift for you from the spoils of the enemies of the Lord:

Now let this present that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the servants who follow my lord.

May those who desire my vindication shout for joy and rejoice! May they continually say,“ May the LORD be praised, for he wants his servant to be secure.”

Please take my present that was brought to you, for God has been generous to me and I have all I need.” When Jacob urged him, he took it.

Therefore I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to go to you in advance and to arrange ahead of time the generous contribution you had promised, so this may be ready as a generous gift and not as something you feel forced to do.

A person’s gift makes room for him, and leads him before important people.The first to state his case seems right, until his opponent begins to cross-examine him.A toss of a coin ends disputes, and settles the issue between strong opponents.A relative offended is harder to reach than a strong city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a fortified citadel.From the fruit of a person’s mouth his stomach is satisfied, with the product of his lips is he satisfied.Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit.The one who finds a wife finds what is enjoyable, and receives a pleasurable gift from the LORD.A poor person makes supplications, but a rich man answers harshly.A person who has friends may be harmed by them, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

You ascend on high, you have taken many captives. You receive tribute from men, including even sinful rebels. Indeed the LORD God lives there!

He and his entire entourage returned to the prophet. Naaman came and stood before him. He said,“ For sure I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel! Now, please accept a gift from your servant.”

An honorable man makes honorable plans; his honorable character gives him security.

These were the men who joined David in Ziklag, when he was banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish.( They were among the warriors who assisted him in battle.They were armed with bows and could shoot arrows or sling stones right or left-handed. They were fellow tribesmen of Saul from Benjamin.) These were:Ahiezer, the leader, and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; Berachah, Jehu the Anathothite,Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, one of the thirty warriors and their leader,( 12: 5) Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad the Gederathite,( 12: 6) Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah the Haruphite,Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, who were Korahites,and Joelah and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham from Gedor.Some of the Gadites joined David at the stronghold in the desert. They were warriors who were trained for battle; they carried shields and spears. They were as fierce as lions and could run as quickly as gazelles across the hills.Ezer was the leader, Obadiah the second in command, Eliab the third,Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,Jeremiah the tenth, and Machbannai the eleventh.These Gadites were military leaders; the least led a hundred men, the greatest a thousand.They crossed the Jordan River in the first month, when it was overflowing its banks, and routed those living in all the valleys to the east and west.
