He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah.

He led David down to where the men were. They were scattered all over the countryside. They were eating and drinking and dancing wildly. That’s because they had taken a large amount of goods from those they had attacked. They had taken it from the land of the Philistines and from the people of Judah.

And when he had taken him down, behold, they were spread abroad over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

So he led David to them, and they found the Amalekites spread out across the fields, eating and drinking and dancing with joy because of the vast amount of plunder they had taken from the Philistines and the land of Judah.

So he led him, and there were the Amalekites, spread out over the entire area, eating, drinking, and celebrating because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.

押沙龍吩咐僕人說：「你們要留意，當暗嫩喝得正高興的時候，我叫你們殺他，你們就要動手。不要畏縮，要剛強勇敢！因為這是我的命令。」

當人們正在說一切平安穩妥的時候，災禍會像產痛臨到孕婦一樣突然臨到他們，令他們無法逃脫。

地上萬民便興高采烈，互相送禮道賀，因為這兩位先知曾使地上的人受苦。三天半過後，上帝的生命之氣進入二人裡面，他們便站立起來。看見的人都害怕極了！接著天上有大聲音呼喚他們說：「上這裡來！」他們就在敵人的注視下駕雲升上天去。就在那一刻，發生了強烈的地震，那座城的十分之一倒塌了，因地震死亡的共七千人，生還者都在恐懼中將榮耀歸給天上的上帝。

人們吃喝嫁娶，一直到挪亞進入方舟那天，洪水來了，毀滅了他們；又像羅得的時代，人們吃喝、做買賣、耕地、蓋房。在羅得離開所多瑪那天，烈火和硫磺從天而降，把他們全毀滅了。

伯沙撒王盛宴款待一千大臣，與他們一同飲酒。王暢飲的時候，命人將先王尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿中擄來的金銀器皿拿來，供他與大臣、王后和妃嬪用來飲酒。於是，他們把從耶路撒冷上帝殿中擄來的金器拿來，王與大臣、王后和妃嬪便用這些器皿飲酒。他們一邊飲酒，一邊頌讚金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所造的神明。

探子看見一個人從城裡出來，就對他說：「請你告訴我們進城的路，我們必善待你。」那人便告訴他們進城的路，他們殺了城內所有的居民，只放走了那人及其全家。

摩西對他們說：「以色列的上帝耶和華這樣說，『你們各人帶著刀，從這個門到那個門，走遍整個營，不論遇見的是兄弟、夥伴還是鄰居，只管殺他們。』」利未人便照摩西的話去做。那一天，約有三千人被殺。

我們襲擊了基利提的南方，猶大地區和迦勒南部，還燒毀了洗革拉。」

她回到家時，拿八正在大擺宴席，排場如御宴。她見拿八心情愉快，喝得酩酊大醉，就什麼也沒告訴他，等第二天早上再說。次日清晨，拿八酒醒以後，他妻子把發生的一切告訴他，他嚇得昏死過去，身體僵硬如石。過了十天，耶和華擊打拿八，他就死了。

但你們還是歡喜作樂，宰牛殺羊，喝酒吃肉，說：「讓我們吃喝吧！因為明天我們就死了。」

第二天清晨，百姓都上前來獻燔祭和平安祭，獻完祭後就坐下吃喝，起來狂歡。

惡人得勢不會長久，不信上帝者的快樂轉瞬即逝？

那時，我就可以對自己說，「你積存這麼多財產，一生享用不盡，現在大可高枕無憂、盡情地吃喝玩樂吧！」』但上帝對他說，『無知的人啊！今晚就要取走你的命！你所預備的一切留給誰享用呢？』」

非利士人的首領聚在一起向他們的神明大袞獻大祭，歡呼說：「我們的神把仇敵參孫交在我們手中了。」眾人看見參孫，就讚美他們的神明，說：「我們的神把仇敵交在我們手中了，他曾毀壞我們的田地，殺死我們許多人。」他們都興高采烈，並喊道：「把參孫帶來讓我們消遣消遣。」於是，有人把參孫從監牢裡提出來供他們消遣，他們讓他站在兩根柱子中間。參孫對拉著他手的童僕說：「帶我到支撐這廟宇的柱子那裡，我想靠一靠。」那時，廟裡擠滿了男男女女，非利士人的首領們都在場，房頂上還有三千男女看參孫的熱鬧。參孫向耶和華禱告說：「主耶和華啊，求你眷顧我！上帝啊，求你再次賜給我力量，使我向非利士人報剜眼之仇。」參孫就抱住廟宇中央的兩根柱子，一手抱一根，然後喊道：「我要跟非利士人同歸於盡！」於是，他一用力，廟宇倒塌，壓住裡面的首領和民眾。參孫死時殺的人比他活著時殺的還多。

「你們要小心，不要被宴樂、醉酒和人生的掛慮所拖累，免得那日子像網羅般突然臨到你們，因為那日子將要這樣臨到世上每一個人。

約書亞聽見山下百姓嘈雜的喊叫聲，便對摩西說：「營地裡有打仗的聲音。」摩西對他說：「這不是打勝仗的聲音，也不是打敗仗的聲音，而是狂歡的聲音。」摩西走近營地的時候，看見牛犢，又看見百姓在跳舞，心中大怒，便把手上的兩塊石版摔碎在山腳下，
