大衛和他的人上去，侵奪基述人、基色人、亞瑪力人，這些是從帖蘭經過書珥直到埃及地的居民。大衛攻擊那地，無論男女沒有留下一個活口，又奪獲牛、羊、驢、駱駝和衣服，回來到亞吉那裏。亞吉說：「今日你們沒有去搶奪甚麼地方吧？」大衛說：「侵奪了猶大、耶拉篾、基尼等地的南方。」

那時，以撒住在尼革夫。他剛從庇耳‧拉海‧萊回來。

耶和華對約書亞說：「你不要怕他們。明日這時，我必把他們全部交給以色列人殺滅。你要砍斷他們馬的蹄筋，用火焚燒他們的戰車。」

第三天，看哪，有一人從掃羅的營裏出來，衣服撕裂，頭蒙灰塵，到大衛面前伏地叩拜。
