掃羅擊殺亞瑪力人，從哈腓拉直到埃及東的書珥，

於是大衛和跟隨他的人清早起來，一早就離開，回到非利士人的地去。非利士人也上耶斯列去了。

非利士人的領袖向亞吉發怒，對他說：“你叫這人回去，好讓他回到你為他安排的地方去。他不可與我們一同下戰場，免得他在戰場上成為我們的對頭。這人可用甚麼去得他主人的歡心呢？豈不是用我們這些人的頭嗎？

大衛和跟隨他的人上去襲擊基述人、基色人和亞瑪力人，這些人自古以來就是這地的居民，居於書珥到埃及地之間。大衛攻打那地，無論男女，都不讓一人存活，又擄走了牛、羊、驢子、駱駝和衣服，然後回來，到亞吉那裡去。亞吉問：“你們今天襲擊了甚麼地方呢？”大衛回答：“我們襲擊了猶大的南方，耶拉蔑的南部，和基尼的南方。”

那時，以撒剛從庇耳．拉海．萊回來，他原本是住在南地的。

耶和華對約書亞說：“你不要因他們懼怕，因為明天這個時候，我必使他們全數在以色列人面前被殺；你要砍斷他們的馬蹄筋，焚燒他們的車輛。”

第三天，忽然有一個人從掃羅的營回來，衣服撕裂，頭上蒙灰。這人一來到大衛面前，就俯伏在地上叩拜他。
