亞吉叫大衛來，對他說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓，你是個正直人。你隨我在軍中出入，我也很滿意。自從你投奔我到如今，我未曾看見你有甚麼過失，但是眾領袖看你不順眼。現在你平平安安地回去，不要做非利士人領袖眼中看為惡的事。」

是從埃及東邊的西曷河往北，直到以革倫的邊界，算是屬迦南人的地，那裏有非利士人五個領袖統治迦薩人、亞實突人、亞實基倫人、迦特人、以革倫人；還有屬於亞衛人的，

他們就派人去請非利士的眾領袖來聚集，對他們說：「我們向以色列上帝的約櫃應當怎樣做呢？」他們說：「可以把以色列上帝的約櫃運到迦特去。」於是他們把以色列上帝的約櫃運到那裏。運到之後，耶和華的手擊打那城，使那城的人非常驚慌，無論大小都生痔瘡。他們就把上帝的約櫃送到以革倫。上帝的約櫃到了以革倫，以革倫人就呼喊說：「他們把以色列上帝的約櫃運到我這裏，要害我和我的百姓！」於是他們派人去請非利士的眾領袖來，說：「請你們把以色列上帝的約櫃送回原處，免得害死我和我的百姓！」原來上帝的手重重攻擊那城，死亡的恐懼瀰漫全城，

非利士人說：「應當用甚麼獻為賠罪的禮物呢？」他們說：「當按照非利士領袖的數目，獻五個金痔瘡和五個金老鼠，因為你們眾人和領袖所遭遇的都是一樣的災禍。
