The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors— to David.

The Lord has spoken through me and has done what he said he would do. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands. He has given it to one of your neighbors. He has given it to David.

The Lord has done to you as he spoke by me, for the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.

The Lord has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David.

When Samuel turned to leave, Saul grabbed the edge of his robe and it tore.Samuel said to him,“ The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to one of your colleagues who is better than you!The Preeminent One of Israel does not go back on his word or change his mind, for he is not a human being who changes his mind.”

The LORD works everything for its own ends– even the wicked for the day of disaster.

Then Samuel said to Saul,“ You have made a foolish choice! You have not obeyed the commandment that the LORD your God gave you. Had you done that, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever!But now your kingdom will not continue! The LORD has sought out for himself a man who is loyal to him and the LORD has appointed him to be leader over his people, for you have not obeyed what the LORD commanded you.”

Now look, I realize that you will in fact be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.

So Samuel took the horn full of olive oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers. The Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day onward. Then Samuel got up and went to Ramah.
