Samuel said,“ Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has departed from you and become your enemy?

Samuel said,“ The Lord has left you. He has become your enemy. So why are you asking me what you should do?

And Samuel said,“ Why then do you ask me, since the Lord has turned from you and become your enemy?

Samuel answered,“ Since the LORD has turned away from you and has become your enemy, why are you asking me?

Samuel said,“ But why ask me, since the Lord has abandoned you and has become your enemy?

Then Samuel said:“ So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy?

And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary?

Samuel answered,“ Since the Lord has turned away from you and has become your enemy, why are you asking me?

Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

Samuel said,“ Why are you asking me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and has become your enemy?

Samuel said,“ Why then do you ask me, since Yahweh has departed from you and has become your adversary?

Rejoice over her fate, O heaven and people of God and apostles and prophets! For at last God has judged her for your sakes.

In your streets flowed the blood of the prophets and of God’s holy people and the blood of people slaughtered all over the world.”After this, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting,“ Praise the Lord! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.His judgments are true and just. He has punished the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality. He has avenged the murder of his servants.”And again their voices rang out:“ Praise the Lord! The smoke from that city ascends forever and ever!”Then the twenty four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out,“ Amen! Praise the Lord!”And from the throne came a voice that said,“ Praise our God, all his servants, all who fear him, from the least to the greatest.”Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:“ Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies. Let those who hate God run for their lives.Blow them away like smoke. Melt them like wax in a fire. Let the wicked perish in the presence of God.But let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with joy.

Yes, the Lord has vanquished Israel like an enemy. He has destroyed her palaces and demolished her fortresses. He has brought unending sorrow and tears upon beautiful Jerusalem.

He answered,“ If the Lord doesn’t help you, what can I do? I have neither food from the threshing floor nor wine from the press to give you.”

“ Lord, may all your enemies die like Sisera! But may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power!” Then there was peace in the land for forty years.
