So David and the six hundred men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maok king of Gath.

So David escaped from Saul and went to King Achish of Gath.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

Then David asked the Lord,“ Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him,“ Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!”

But three years later two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to King Achish son of Maacah of Gath. When Shimei learned where they were,he saddled his donkey and went to Gath to search for them. When he found them, he brought them back to Jerusalem.
