And David said in his heart,“ Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.”

大衛意謂、必有一日、我亡於掃羅手、不如遁入非利士地、掃羅則絕其望、不復索我於以色列境、我乃脫於其手、

大闢慮後日為掃羅所害、不如速遁於非利士人地。掃羅見我不在以色列四境、必不索我、我可脫其手。

大衛意謂、恐後有一日、我終亡於掃羅手、不如奔非利士地、掃羅見我不在以色列境內、必絕望不復索我、我乃可脫其手、

But David thought to himself,“ One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”

David thought,“ Some day Saul will destroy me. So the best thing I can do is escape. I’ll go to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will stop looking for me everywhere in Israel. His hand won’t be able to reach me.”

Then David said in his heart,“ Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.”

But David kept thinking to himself,“ Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to the Philistines. Then Saul will stop hunting for me in Israelite territory, and I will finally be safe.”

David said to himself,“ One of these days I’ll be swept away by Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape immediately to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me everywhere in Israel, and I’ll escape from him.”

Then David said to himself,“ Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to safely escape into the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of searching for me anymore in all the territory of Israel, and I will escape from his hand.”

And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

David said to himself,“ One of these days I’ll be swept away by Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape immediately to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will stop searching for me everywhere in Israel, and I’ll escape from him.”

And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul:[ there is] nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

David thought to himself,“ One of these days I’m going to be swept away by the hand of Saul! There is nothing better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of searching for me through all the territory of Israel and I will escape from his hand.”

David said in his heart,“ I will now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel. So shall I escape out of his hand.”

Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel:“ My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”?Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord.It is good for a man to bear The yoke in his youth.

But He said to them,“ Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying,‘ Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”

And he said to him,“ Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.”

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

“ I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

Now it happened in those days that the Philistines gathered their armies together for war, to fight with Israel. And Achish said to David,“ You assuredly know that you will go out with me to battle, you and your men.”So David said to Achish,“ Surely you know what your servant can do.” And Achish said to David,“ Therefore I will make you one of my chief guardians forever.”

I said in my haste,“ All men are liars.”

For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:“ In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,And you said,“ No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And,“ We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!

Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.And the servants of Achish said to him,“ Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying:‘ saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?”Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath.So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard.Then Achish said to his servants,“ Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me?Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”

Now the prophet Gad said to David,“ Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go to the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.

Then Achish would say,“ Where have you made a raid today?” And David would say,“ Against the southern area of Judah, or against the southern area of the Jerahmeelites, or against the southern area of the Kenites.”David would save neither man nor woman alive, to bring news to Gath, saying,“ Lest they should inform on us, saying,‘ Thus David did.’” And thus was his behavior all the time he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him,“ O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

And the lords of the Philistines passed in review by hundreds and by thousands, but David and his men passed in review at the rear with Achish.Then the princes of the Philistines said,“ What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines,“ Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years? And to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me.”But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him,“ Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these men?Is this not David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying:‘ saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?”Then Achish called David and said to him,“ Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For to this day I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me. Nevertheless the lords do not favor you.Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”So David said to Achish,“ But what have I done? And to this day what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my Lord the king?”Then Achish answered and said to David,“ I know that you are as good in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless the princes of the Philistines have said,‘ He shall not go up with us to the battle.’Now therefore, rise early in the morning with your master’s servants who have come with you. And as soon as you are up early in the morning and have light, depart.”So David and his men rose early to depart in the morning, to return to the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire,and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way.So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.

Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.”

And it shall come to pass, when the Lord has done for my Lord according to all the good that He has spoken concerning you, and has appointed you ruler over Israel,

For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears.
