Then David set out and went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw where Saul and Abner son of Ner, the commander of the army, had lain down. Saul was lying inside the camp, with the army encamped around him.

David slipped over to Saul’s camp one night to look around. Saul and Abner son of Ner, the commander of his army, were sleeping inside a ring formed by the slumbering warriors.

Immediately, David went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw the place where Saul and Abner son of Ner, the commander of his army, were lying down. Saul was lying inside the inner circle of the camp with the troops camped around him.

掃羅看見大衛出陣去和那非利士人接戰，就問軍長押尼珥說：『押尼珥啊，這個青年人是誰的兒子？』押尼珥說：『王啊，我指着你的性命來起誓，我若知道，我就該死。』

掃羅的妻子名叫亞希暖，是亞希瑪斯的女兒。掃羅的軍長名叫押尼珥，是尼珥的兒子；尼珥是掃羅的叔叔。掃羅的父親基士、押尼珥的父親尼珥、都是亞別的兒子。

天一亮、大衛清早起來，將羊羣交給一個看守的人，照耶西所吩咐他的，拿起食物來、就走，到了輜重營，軍兵剛出陣，在戰場上吶喊。

屬掃羅的軍長尼珥的兒子押尼珥曾將掃羅的兒子伊施波設帶過河到瑪哈念；立他做王去管理基列、亞設人、耶斯列、以法蓮、便雅憫、和以色列眾人。掃羅的兒子伊施波設登極的時候、年四十歲；他作王管理以色列兩年；惟獨猶大家歸從大衛。大衛在希伯崙作王管理猶大家、其年數共有七年零六個月。尼珥的兒子押尼珥和掃羅的兒子伊施波設的臣僕從瑪哈念出來，往基遍去。

尼珥生押尼珥，基士生掃羅，掃羅生約拿單、麥基舒亞、亞比拿達、伊施巴力。

掃羅有一個妃嬪、名叫利斯巴、是愛亞的女兒；伊施波設對押尼珥說：『你為甚麼和我父親的妃嬪同床呢？』押尼珥因伊施波設的話就非常忿怒、說：『我、我哪是猶大的狗頭呢？我今日對你父親掃羅的家、對他的弟兄、朋友、存着忠愛的心，不將你解交在大衛手裏；你今日竟為一個婦人的罪愆而責罪我麼？

押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他轉到城門的甕洞裏，彷彿要和他說機密話的樣子，就在那裏刺透他的五臟，他便死了：這是為他兄弟亞撒黑報血仇的。

王為押尼珥舉哀說：『押尼珥之死、怎麼竟像愚忘人的死啊！你的手未曾被捆綁；你的腳未曾被銅鍊鎖住；你的仆倒、竟如人在橫暴之輩面前仆倒一樣！』於是眾民繼續為押尼珥哀哭。還在白日時候、眾民都來勸大衛喫飯；大衛起誓說：『我若在日頭未落以前喫飯、或喫任何東西，願上帝這樣懲罰我，並且加重地懲罰。』眾民領會了，大家都很滿意；凡王所行的、眾民都很滿意。那一天、以色列眾民才知道殺死尼珥的兒子押尼珥、並不是出於王的意思。王對臣僕說：『你們豈不知今日在以色列中仆倒了一個將軍、又是個大人物麼？

有一個便雅憫人、名叫基士，是便雅憫人亞斐亞的元孫、比歌拉的曾孫、洗羅的孫子、亞別的兒子，是個很有財力的人。
