The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed.

The Lord rewards everyone for doing what is right and being faithful. He handed you over to me today. But I wouldn’t harm you. You are the Lord’ s anointed king.

耶和華照著我的公義恩待我，照著我手中的清潔回報我；因為我謹守耶和華的道路，沒有作惡離開我的神；他一切的法規都在我面前，我沒有讓他的律例遠離我。我在他面前是純全的，我謹守自己遠離我的罪孽。所以耶和華照著我的公義，在他眼前照著我手中的清潔回報我。對忠信的人，你顯出信實；對純全的人，你顯出純全；對純潔的人，你顯出純潔；對悖謬的人，你還以其道；

願耶和華審斷萬民；耶和華啊，求你照著我的公義、照著我裡面的純全判斷我！願惡人的惡斷絕，願你使義人堅立！公義的神哪，你是察驗人心思和肺腑的。

耶和華絕不允許我對耶和華的受膏者下手。現在，去把他頭旁的長矛和水瓶拿過來，然後我們就走！」

就對部下說：「耶和華絕不允許我對耶和華的受膏者我主做這樣的事，我絕不對他下手，因為他是耶和華的受膏者。」大衛用這些話阻止了部下，不允許他們起來攻擊掃羅。掃羅起身離開洞穴，繼續行路。
