耶和华啊！求你保护我脱离恶人的手，保护我脱离强暴的人，因为他们图谋推倒我。骄傲的人暗中布下陷阱害我，他们在路旁张开绳索作网，设下圈套陷害我。（细拉）我曾对耶和华说：“你是我的神；耶和华啊！求你留心听我恳求的声音！”主耶和华，拯救我的力量啊，在争战的日子，你保护了我的头。耶和华啊！求你不要容恶人的心愿得偿，不要使他们的计谋成功，免得他们自高自大。（细拉）至于那些围困我的人，愿他们的头被自己嘴唇的奸恶遮盖。

他从以色列人中为自己拣选了三千人；两千人和扫罗一同驻在密抹和伯特利山，一千人与约拿单一同驻在便雅悯的基比亚。其余的人，扫罗都遣散他们各回自己的家去了。

那些寻索我命的，设下网罗；那些想要害我的，口说威吓的话，他们整天思想诡计。

你们要去查看他所有藏身的地方，确定以后再回来见我，我就与你们同去；如果他在本地，我必从犹大的千门万户中把他搜出来。”于是西弗人起身，在扫罗以先到西弗去了。那时大卫和跟随他的人却在玛云旷野，就是在荒野南边的亚拉巴。扫罗和跟随他的人去寻找大卫。有人告诉大卫，他就下到磐石那里，留在玛云旷野。扫罗听见了，就在玛云旷野追赶大卫。
