So David took the spear and water jug near Saul’s head, and they left. No one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up. They were all sleeping, because the Lord had put them into a deep sleep.

永恆主上帝就使那人瞇瞇沉睡；當那人睡覺的時候，永恆主上帝就取下了他的一條肋骨，又用肉去補而合起來。

日頭正落的時候，亞伯蘭瞇瞇地沉睡着，忽有一種恐怖、一種大黑暗落在他身上。

因為永恆主將沉睡之靈傾注於你們；使你們的眼緊合着，使你們的頭蒙蓋着！

那一夜王睡不着覺，就吩咐人拿《備忘錄》來；便有人在王面前一直地唸。

於是大衛和亞比篩夜間到了眾兵那裏，見掃羅躺在輜重營裏睡着，他的矛在他頭旁、插在地上；押尼珥和眾兵都躺在他四圍。

跟隨大衛人的對大衛說：『永恆主曾對你說過：「看吧，我必將你的仇敵交在你手裏；你可以任意處置他」；看哪，今天就是那日子了。』大衛就起來，輕悄悄地割下掃羅外袍的衣邊。
