Abigail acted quickly. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys.

Abigail didn’t waste any time. She got 200 loaves of bread and two bottles of wine. The bottles were made out of animal skins. She got five sheep that were ready to be cooked. She got a bushel of grain that had been cooked. She got 100 raisin cakes. And she got 200 cakes of pressed figs. She loaded all of it on the backs of donkeys.

Then Abigail made haste and took two hundred loaves and two skins of wine and five sheep already prepared and five seahs of parched grain and a hundred clusters of raisins and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys.

帶着被褥、盆、瓦器，還有小麥、大麥、麥麵、烤熟的穀穗、豆子、紅豆、炒豆、蜂蜜、奶油、綿羊、奶餅，供給大衛和跟隨他的人吃，因為他們想：「百姓在曠野中，必定又飢渴又疲乏。」

當夜，雅各在那裏住宿，就從他手中所擁有的拿禮物要送給他哥哥以掃，就是二百隻母山羊、二十隻公山羊、二百隻母綿羊、二十隻公綿羊、三十匹哺乳的母駱駝和牠們的小駱駝、四十頭母牛、十頭公牛、二十匹母驢和十匹公驢。他把每種牲畜各分一羣，交在僕人手中，對僕人說：「你們要在我的前頭過去，使羣和羣之間保持一段距離」。他又吩咐領頭的人說：「我哥哥以掃遇見你的時候，問你說：『你是誰的人？要往哪裏去？你前面這些是誰的？』你就說：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物。看哪，他自己也在我們後面。』」他又吩咐第二、第三和所有趕畜羣的人說：「你們遇見以掃的時候要照這樣的話對他說，你們還要說：『看哪，你僕人雅各在我們後面。』」因雅各說：「我藉着在我前面送去的禮物給他面子，然後再見他的面，或許他會寬容我。」

暗中送的禮物挽回怒氣，懷裏的賄賂能止息暴怒。

他們附近的人，以及以薩迦、西布倫、拿弗他利人，都將食物，許多麵餅、無花果餅、乾葡萄、酒、油，用驢、駱駝、騾子、牛馱來，又帶了許多的牛和羊來，因為在以色列中充滿了歡樂。

你同告你的冤家還在路上，就要趕快與他講和，免得他把你送交給法官，法官交給警衛，你就下在監裏了。

父親以色列對他們說：「如果必須如此，你們要這樣做：把本地土產中最好的乳香、蜂蜜、香料、沒藥、堅果、杏仁各取一點，放在器皿裏，帶下去送給那人作禮物。手裏要帶雙倍的銀子，把退還在你們袋口的銀子親手帶回去；或許那是個失誤。帶着你們的弟弟，動身再去見那人。願全能的上帝使你們在那人面前蒙憐憫，放你們另一個兄弟和便雅憫回來。我若要失喪兒子，就喪了吧！」

我指着阻止我加害於你的耶和華－以色列永生的上帝起誓，若不是你很快地來迎接我，到早晨天亮的時候，凡屬拿八的男丁，必定一個也不留。」
