If he say thus,[ It is] well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth,[ then] be sure that evil is determined by him.

[ Certain] men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;

And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And[ then] carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial,[ even] Nabal: for as his name[ is], so[ is] he; Nabal[ is] his name, and folly[ is] with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

But[ the sons] of Belial[ shall be] all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:But the man[ that] shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the[ same] place.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that[ the king] said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father,[ if] the prophet had bid thee[ do some] great thing, wouldest thou not have done[ it]? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

Now the sons of Eli[ were] sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him,[ even] against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
