David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

David said to his men,“ Each of you put on your swords!” So they did. David put his sword on too. About 400 men went up with David. Two hundred men stayed behind with the supplies.

And David said to his men,“ Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

He said to his men,“ All of you, put on your swords!” So each man put on his sword, and David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

大衛和跟從他的人，約有六百人，就起身離開基伊拉，到處漂泊。有人告訴掃羅，大衛已經逃離了基伊拉，掃羅就不出去了。

一個人沒有知識是不好的，腳步匆忙的，難免失足。

人的明慧使他不輕易動怒；寬恕別人過失的，是自己的榮耀。

以色列人取了他們一些食物，卻沒有求問耶和華的旨意。

事後，大衛為了割下掃羅的衣邊，心中自責，就對跟隨他的人說：“我在耶和華面前絕對不能這樣對待我主耶和華的受膏者，我絕對不能動手攻擊他，因為他是耶和華的受膏者。”

不輕易動怒的，勝過勇士；克服己心的，勝過把城攻取的人。

親愛的啊，不要為自己伸冤，寧可等候主的忿怒，因為經上記著，主說：“伸冤在我，我必報應。”相反地，“如果你的仇敵餓了，就給他吃；如果渴了，就給他喝。因為你這樣作，就是把炭火堆在他的頭上。”不可被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

不輕易動怒的，十分聰明；輕易動怒的，大顯愚妄。

不可輕率出去與人爭訟；否則，你的鄰舍若使你受辱，結果你要怎麼辦呢？

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要知道，人人都應該快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢一點動怒；因為人的忿怒並不能成全神的義。

大衛來到那二百人那裡，那些人因太疲乏不能跟隨大衛去，而留在比梭溪旁；他們出來迎接大衛和跟隨他的眾人。大衛接近眾人的時候，就向他們問安。與大衛一起去的那些人中，有些惡人和流氓說：“他們沒有和我們一起去，我們就不把奪回來的戰利品分給他們，只把他們各人的妻子和兒子還給他們，讓他們領回去就是了。”大衛說：“兄弟們，耶和華賜給我們的，你們不可以這樣作。他保護了我們，又把那些攻擊我們的匪徒交在我們手裡。這事誰要聽從你們呢？下戰場的得多少，留守武器的也得多少，應當大家平分。”

於是大衛和跟隨他的六百人出發。他們到了比梭溪，有些跟不上的就留在那裡。有二百人太疲乏，不能渡過比梭溪，就留在那裡，大衛和四百人繼續追趕。
