Why should I take my bread and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?”

Why should I give away my bread and water? Why should I give away the meat I’ve prepared for those who clip the wool off my sheep? Why should I give food to men who come from who knows where?”

Shall I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers and give it to men who come from I do not know where?”

要把你的糧食撒在水面上，因為日久你必得回。你要分為七份，或分為八份，因為你不知道將來會有甚麼災禍在地上發生。

正如古時的格言：‘惡事出於惡人。’所以，我的手不敢傷害你。

恐怕你心裡說：‘這財富是我的力量，是我手的能力使我得著的。’

你們要互相接待，不發怨言。

他們的罪孽是出於麻木的心（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他們的罪孽是出於麻木的心”應作“他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯），他們心裡的惡念氾濫。他們譏笑人，懷著惡意說欺壓人的話，他們說話自高。

好像是人所不知的，卻是人所共知的；好像是必死的，你看，我們卻是活著的；好像是受懲罰的，卻沒有處死；

我們知道神曾對摩西說話；只是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裡來。”那人對他們說：“這就奇怪了，他開了我的眼睛，你們竟然不知道他從哪裡來。
