Saul soon learned that David was at Keilah.“ Good!” he exclaimed.“ We’ve got him now! God has handed him over to me, for he has trapped himself in a walled town!”

When it was reported to Saul that David had come to Keilah, Saul said,“ God has handed him over to me, for he shut himself in by entering a city with double gates and bars.”

And Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah. So Saul said,“ God has delivered him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

so they said to him,“ Look, this is the day the LORD told you about:‘ I will hand your enemy over to you so you can do to him whatever you desire.’” Then David got up and secretly cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.Afterward, David’s conscience bothered him because he had cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.He said to his men,“ As the LORD is my witness, I would never do such a thing to my lord, the LORD’s anointed. I will never lift my hand against him, since he is the LORD’s anointed.”

the joy of the wicked has been brief and the happiness of the godless has lasted only a moment?

Then Abishai said to David,“ Today God has delivered your enemy to you. Let me thrust the spear through him into the ground just once. I won’t have to strike him twice!”But David said to Abishai,“ Don’t destroy him, for who can lift a hand against the LORD’s anointed and be innocent?”

For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together,saying,“ God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him.”

David then stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul searched for him every day, but God did not hand David over to him.

Pharaoh will say of the Israelites: They are wandering around the land in confusion; the wilderness has boxed them in.

The enemy said:“ I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil. My desire will be gratified at their expense. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.”

When the Gazites heard that Samson was there, they surrounded the place and waited in ambush for him all that night at the city gate. They kept quiet all night, saying,“ Let’s wait until dawn; then we will kill him.”But Samson stayed in bed only until midnight. Then he got up, took hold of the doors of the city gate along with the two gateposts, and pulled them out, bar and all. He put them on his shoulders and took them to the top of the mountain overlooking Hebron.

For the days will come on you when your enemies will build a barricade around you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.They will crush you and your children among you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.”
