扫罗对亚希亚说：“把上帝的约柜抬来。”那时上帝的约柜在以色列人那里。

他对以色列人说：“让我们连夜追赶非利士人，抢夺他们的财物，直到天亮，把他们全部歼灭。”众人答道：“就照你的意思。”但祭司说：“让我们先来求问上帝吧。”于是，扫罗求问上帝，说：“耶和华啊，我们可以去追杀非利士人吗？你会把他们交在以色列人手里吗？”但耶和华那日没有回答他。
