义人的心愿尽是好的；恶人的指望却带来愤怒。

那些与拿伯同城居住的长老和贵族，照耶洗别送给他们的信去做。正如她送的信上所写，他们宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在百姓的高位上。有两个无赖来，坐在拿伯对面。无赖当着百姓作证告他说：“拿伯诅咒上帝和王了！”众人就把他拉到城外，用石头打他，他就死了。于是他们派人到耶洗别那里，说：“拿伯被石头打死了。”

求王恩的人多；人获公正来自耶和华。

“利未人若离开他在以色列中所居住的任何一座城，一心愿意到耶和华所选择的地方，

恶人看见就愤怒，必咬牙而消亡，恶人的心愿要归于幻灭。

因为陌生人兴起攻击我，强横的人寻索我的性命；他们眼中没有上帝。（细拉）

押尼珥对大卫说：“我要起身去召集全以色列，来到我主我王这里，与你立约，你就可以照你的心愿作王，统治一切。”于是大卫送走押尼珥，他就平安地去了。

王宫总管、市长和长老，并教养众儿子的人，派人到耶户那里，说：“我们是你的仆人，凡你所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。我们不立谁作王，你看怎样好就怎样做吧。”耶户写第二封信给他们，说：“你们若归顺我，听从我的话，明日这时候，要带着你们主人众儿子的首级，来到耶斯列我这里。”那时王的儿子七十人都住在城中教养他们的那些尊贵人家里。信一到他们那里，他们就把王的七十个儿子杀了，将首级装在筐里，送到耶斯列，耶户那里。
