Now, Your Majesty, come down whenever it pleases you to do so, and we will be responsible for giving him into your hands.”

大衛又問耶和華：「基伊拉的人會不會把我和我的部下交給掃羅呢？」耶和華說：「他們一定會。」

義人的願望結出善果，惡人的希望招致烈怒。

與拿伯同居一城的長老和貴族接到來信，便依照信裡的指示行事。他們宣告禁食，讓拿伯在百姓中坐首位，又叫兩名無賴當眾作證指控拿伯咒詛上帝和君王。然後眾人把拿伯拖出城外，用石頭打死了他。事情辦好了以後，他們就派人去把拿伯被石頭打死的消息告訴耶洗別。

許多人討君王的歡心，但正義伸張靠耶和華。

「以色列境內任何地方的利未人若願意離開自己所住的城，去耶和華選定的地方，

惡人見狀，必然惱怒，咬牙切齒，氣絕身亡。惡人的盼望必破滅。

因為傲慢的人起來攻擊我，目無上帝的暴徒正尋索我的性命。（細拉）

押尼珥對大衛說：「我要為我主我王招聚所有的以色列人，跟你立約，你便可以如願以償，統治全以色列。」於是大衛為他送行，他就平安地回去了。

宮廷總管、總督、長老和眾監護人便派人送信給耶戶，說：「我們是你的僕人，你怎樣吩咐，我們就怎樣做。我們不會立任何人為王，你認為怎樣好，就怎樣辦吧。」耶戶又寫了一封信，說：「如果你們歸順我，願意聽從我，明天這個時候，帶著你們主人子孫的首級來耶斯列見我。」當時亞哈的七十個子孫都養在城中顯貴的府中。這些顯貴們接到信後，便殺了亞哈的七十個子孫，把他們的首級放在籃子裡，送到耶斯列的耶戶那裡。
