Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul,“ I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub,

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing there with Saul’s men, spoke up.“ When I was at Nob,” he said,“ I saw the son of Jesse talking to the priest, Ahimelech son of Ahitub.

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was in charge of Saul’s servants, answered,“ I saw Jesse’s son come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing in front of the servants of Saul, responded and said,“ I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

But Doeg the Edomite, who had stationed himself with the servants of Saul, replied,“ I saw this son of Jesse come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.

Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God’s loving kindness endures continually.Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah.You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue.God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.The righteous also will see it, and fear, and laugh at him, saying,“ Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God’s house. I trust in God’s loving kindness forever and ever.I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.

For I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.”The priest said,“ Behold, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you would like to take that, take it; for there is no other except that here.” David said,“ There is none like that. Give it to me.”David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.The servants of Achish said to him,“ Isn’t this David the king of the land? Didn’t they sing to one another about him in dances, saying,‘ Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?’”David laid up these words in his heart, and was very afraid of Achish the king of Gath.He changed his behavior before them, and pretended to be insane in their hands, and scribbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down on his beard.Then Achish said to his servants,“ Look, you see the man is insane. Why then have you brought him to me?Do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Should this fellow come into my house?”

If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.

Slanderous men have been in you to shed blood. In you they have eaten on the mountains. They have committed lewdness among you.

A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.

Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward,and said,“ This man said,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”
