王又派利未人在耶和華殿中敲鈸，鼓瑟，彈琴，乃照大衛和他先見迦得，並先知拿單所吩咐的，就是耶和華藉先知所吩咐的。

我說：「像我這樣的人豈要逃跑呢？像我這樣的人豈能進入殿裏保全生命呢？我不進去！」

耶和華吩咐大衛的先見迦得說：

有人在這城裏逼迫你們，就逃到那城裏去。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城邑，你們還沒有走遍，人子就到了。

又有便雅憫和猶大人到山寨大衛那裏。

「這百姓說同謀背叛，你們不要說同謀背叛。他們所怕的，你們不要怕，也不要畏懼。但要尊萬軍之耶和華為聖，以他為你們所當怕的，所當畏懼的。他必作為聖所，卻向以色列兩家作絆腳的石頭，跌人的磐石；向耶路撒冷的居民作為圈套和網羅。

大衛王始終的事都寫在先見撒母耳的書上和先知拿單並先見迦得的書上。

有人告訴大衛說：「非利士人攻擊基伊拉，搶奪禾場。」所以大衛求問耶和華說：「我去攻打那些非利士人可以不可以？」耶和華對大衛說：「你可以去攻打非利士人，拯救基伊拉。」跟隨大衛的人對他說：「我們在猶大地這裏尚且懼怕，何況往基伊拉去攻打非利士人的軍旅呢？」大衛又求問耶和華。耶和華回答說：「你起身下基伊拉去，我必將非利士人交在你手裏。」大衛和跟隨他的人往基伊拉去，與非利士人打仗，大大殺敗他們，又奪獲他們的牲畜。這樣，大衛救了基伊拉的居民。亞希米勒的兒子亞比亞他逃到基伊拉見大衛的時候，手裏拿着以弗得。

大衛早晨起來，耶和華的話臨到先知迦得，就是大衛的先見，說：
