王又指派在耶和华殿中的利未人拿着响钹和琴瑟，是照着大卫、王的先见迦得和拿单先知所吩咐的，就是耶和华藉他的先知所吩咐的。

我回答：“像我这样的人，怎可以逃跑呢？哪有像我这样的人，进入圣殿里去保全自己的性命呢？我决不进去！”

耶和华告诉大卫的先见迦得，说：

如果有人在这城迫害你们，就逃到别的城去。我实在告诉你们，你们还没有走遍以色列的各城，人子就来到了。

便雅悯支派和犹大支派中也有人来到山寨投奔大卫。

“这子民所称为阴谋的，你们都不要称为阴谋；他们所怕的，你们不要怕，也不要畏惧。你们要尊万军之耶和华为圣，他是你们当怕的，也是你们当畏惧的。他必向信靠他的人作圣所，却向以色列两家作绊脚的石头、跌人的磐石；又向耶路撒冷的居民作陷阱和网罗。

大卫王一生始末的事迹，都记在撒母耳先见的书上、拿单先知的书上和迦得先见的书上。

有人告诉大卫：“看哪，非利士人正在攻打基伊拉，并且抢掠禾场。”大卫就求问耶和华说：“我可以去击打这些非利士人吗？”耶和华对大卫说：“你可以去击打非利士人，拯救基伊拉。”跟随大卫的人对他说：“看哪，我们在犹大地这里尚且惧怕，何况到基伊拉去攻打非利士人的军兵呢？”于是大卫再求问耶和华。耶和华回答他说：“你只管起来，下到基伊拉去，因为我必把非利士人交在你的手里。”大卫和跟随他的人就到基伊拉去，与非利士人争战，掳走了他们的牲畜，又在他们中间杀戮多人。这样，大卫拯救了基伊拉的居民。亚希米勒的儿子亚比亚他逃到基伊拉去见大卫的时候，是手里带着以弗得下来的。

大卫早晨起来；耶和华的话临到迦得先知，就是大卫的先见，说：
