但我回答说：“像我这样的人岂能逃跑？岂能进入殿里保命？我决不进去。”

耶和华对大卫的先见迦得说：

如果你们在一个地方遭迫害，就避到另一个地方。我实在告诉你们，没等你们走遍以色列的城镇，人子就来了。

便雅悯支派和犹大支派中也有人到堡垒投奔大卫，

“他们认为是阴谋的，你们不要认为是阴谋。他们所怕的，你们不要怕，也不要畏惧。你们当尊万军之耶和华为圣，当敬畏祂，畏惧祂。祂必作人的圣所，也要作以色列和犹大的绊脚石和使人跌倒的磐石，作耶路撒冷居民的陷阱和网罗。

大卫王一生的事迹都记在撒母耳先见、拿单先知和迦得先见的史记上。

一天，大卫得知非利士人正在攻打基伊拉，抢掠麦场，便求问耶和华：“我可以去攻打非利士人吗？”耶和华答道：“你可以去攻打非利士人，营救基伊拉。”大卫的部下却对他说：“我们在犹大这里尚且胆战心惊，何况去基伊拉攻打非利士军队呢！”大卫再求问耶和华，耶和华答道：“到基伊拉去吧，我一定把非利士人交在你手里。”于是，大卫和部下到基伊拉去攻打非利士人，大败敌人，夺取了他们的牲畜，救出基伊拉人。亚希米勒的儿子祭司亚比亚他到基伊拉投奔大卫时，把以弗得也带了去。

第二天早上，耶和华对大卫的先见——迦得先知说：
