Then David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab,“ Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?”

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab. He spoke to the king of Moab. He said,“ Please let my father and mother come and stay with you. Let them stay until I learn what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king,“ Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth,[ and be] with you, till I know what God will do for me.

Then David went from there to Mizpah in Moab, where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab, and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come out with you, until I know what God will do for me.”

So Saul established his sovereignty over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, against the people of Ammon, against Edom, against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned, he harassed them.

For God commanded, saying,‘ Honor your father and your mother’; and,‘ He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’But you say,‘ Whoever says to his father or mother,“ Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”—then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.

Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me.But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.

Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion— Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there.Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons.Now they took wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they dwelt there about ten years.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh, and passed through Mizpah of Gilead; and from Mizpah of Gilead he advanced toward the people of Ammon.

Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have acquired as my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from his position at the gate. You are witnesses this day.”

Then the king said to Zadok,“ Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the Lord, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place.But if He says thus:‘ I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.”

Then Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And he said,“ It is the Lord. Let Him do what seems good to Him.”

“ Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying,“ There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God.
