From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab,“ Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?”

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab. He spoke to the king of Moab. He said,“ Please let my father and mother come and stay with you. Let them stay until I learn what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king,“ Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

Then David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

扫罗得了以色列的王位，攻打四围一切仇敌，攻打摩押、亚扪人、以东、琐巴的众王和非利士人，凡他所到之处尽都征服。

神吩咐过‘你要孝敬你的父母’，又说‘咒骂父亲或母亲的人，必须处死。’你们却说‘如果有人对父亲或母亲说：我本该给你的已经做了圣殿奉献，他就可以完全不孝敬父母。’这样，为了你们的传统，你们就废弃了神的话语。

所以我希望，一旦知道我的事有什么结局，就立即派他去。不过我在主里深信，我自己不久也会去的。

在士师们治理的日子里，犹大地有了饥荒。犹大的伯利恒有一个人，带着他的妻子和两个儿子，去摩押地寄居。这人名叫以利米勒，他的妻子名叫娜娥米，他两个儿子，一个叫玛伦，一个叫基连；他们是犹大伯利恒的以法塔人；他们来到摩押地，就在那里住了下来。后来，娜娥米的丈夫以利米勒死了，留下她和她的两个儿子。两个儿子各自娶了摩押女子为妻，一个叫娥珥巴，另一个叫路得；他们在那里住了大约十年。

此外我也得了玛伦的妻子摩押女子路得作我的妻子，好使那死者在继业上立名，以免那死者的名从他的兄弟中、从本地的城门口断绝。今天你们都是见证人。”

于是撒母耳把一切话都告诉了他，没有向他隐瞒。以利说：“他是耶和华，愿他做自己眼中看为好的事吧。”

邻居的妇女们给孩子起名，说：“有一个儿子为娜娥米而生！”她们就给他起名为俄备得。俄备得是耶西的父亲，耶西是大卫的父亲。

约瑟照着法老的吩咐让他的父亲和兄弟们安置下来，又把埃及地最好的地方，就是兰塞境内的地，给他们作产业。

不过一个寡妇如果有儿女或孙儿女，就应当让他们先学会孝敬自己的家人，报答亲恩，因为这在神面前是蒙悦纳的。
