於是王對多益說：「你過去擊殺祭司們。」以東人多益就過去擊殺那些祭司。那天他殺了八十五個佩戴細麻布以弗得的人，

王謂多益曰、爾往擊之、以東人多益遂擊祭司、當日殺衣枲聖衣者、八十五人、

王諭多益曰、汝擊祭司。以東人多益遂擊祭司、當日殺衣枲公服者八十五人。

The king then ordered Doeg,“ You turn and strike down the priests.” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

Then the king ordered Doeg,“ You go and strike down the priests.” So Doeg, the Edomite, went and struck them down. That day he killed 85 priests who wore linen aprons.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You do it.” So Doeg the Edomite turned on them and killed them that day, eighty five priests in all, still wearing their priestly garments.

So the king said to Doeg,“ Go and execute the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite went and executed the priests himself. On that day, he killed eighty-five men who wore linen ephods.

Then the king said to Doeg,“ You, turn around and attack the priests!” And Doeg the Edomite turned around and attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty five men who wore the linen ephod.

And the king said to Doeg,“ You turn and kill the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck the priests, and killed on that day eighty-five men who wore a linen ephod.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and he slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

So the king said to Doeg,“ Go and execute the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite went and executed the priests himself. On that day, he killed 85 men who wore linen ephods.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

那時，撒母耳還是個孩童，束著細麻布的以弗得，在耶和華面前事奉。

因此，耶和華以色列的神說：‘我曾說：你的家和你的父家，必永遠行在我面前。’現在耶和華卻說：‘我決不容你們這樣行了，因為尊重我的，我必尊重他；藐視我的，必受到輕視。日子快到了，我要砍下你和你父親的膀臂，使你家中再沒有有權勢的長者。我賜給以色列人的一切福分，你必像一個對頭，以嫉妒的眼光來看；而在你的家中，必永遠再沒有有權勢的長者。我必不從我的祭壇那裡滅絕你家的人，免得你的眼睛昏花，心靈憂傷，但所有你家中增添的人都必像世人一樣死去（按照《七十士譯本》和《死海古卷》，“像世人一樣死去”作“死在人的刀下”）。

後來就在耶路撒冷這樣作了。我得到了眾祭司長授權，把許多聖徒關在監裡，並且他們被殺的時候，我也表示同意。我在各會堂裡多次用刑強迫他們說褻瀆的話；我非常憤恨他們，甚至追到國外的城巿去迫害他們。

在那日，我必在以利身上徹底實現我論到他的家所說的一切話。我曾告訴他：‘我必按著他所知道的罪孽永遠處罰他的家。這罪就是他的兒子自招咒詛，他也不責備他們。’所以我向以利家起了誓：‘以利家的罪孽永遠不能用祭物或供物來買贖。’”

他們以自己的惡行討王歡喜，用自己的虛謊叫領袖快樂。

“你也要為亞倫的兒子做內袍，為他們做腰帶，又為他們做頭巾，使他們有榮耀，有華美。

你跟隨了暗利的規例和亞哈家一切所行的，順從了他們的計謀；因此，我必使你荒涼，使你（“你”原文作“她”）的居民被嗤笑；你們也必擔當我民的羞辱。

你家中剩下的人，都要來向他下拜；求一個銀幣，一塊餅，也要說：求你容我參與祭司的職務，使我可以有點餅吃。’”

城中的領袖都是咆哮的獅子，城中的審判官是夜間的豺狼，甚麼都不留到早晨。

以法蓮受欺壓，被審判壓碎；因為他們樂意隨從人的命令。

我不是從以色列眾支派中，選出他們作我的祭司，上我的壇燒香，在我面前穿以弗得嗎？我不是把以色列人所獻的火祭，都賜給了你的父家嗎？

眾人要殺害撒迦利亞，於是照著王的命令，在耶和華殿的院子裡用石頭把他打死。
