祭司便拿聖餅給他，因為在那裏沒有別樣的餅，只有從永恆主面前撤下來的神前餅，當被拿下的日子放上熱餅的、那種。那一天有一個做掃羅臣僕的人在那裏、有禮節上的抑制、留在永恆主面前；他名叫多益，是以東人，做掃羅的司牧長。大衛問亞希米勒說：『你手下這裏有矛或刀沒有？在哪裏呢？因為王事很急，連刀劍軍器我都沒有隨手帶着。』祭司說：『有非利士人歌利亞、就是你在以拉谷所擊殺的、他的刀在這裏呢，用布裹着，在「神諭像」後邊；你若要拿，只管拿去；因為除此以外、在這裏就沒有別的。』大衛說：『這刀沒有一把能比得上的；你給我吧。』

我哪裏是今天才開始為他求問上帝呢？絕對不是：王不要將罪歸僕人和僕人父親全家；因為這一切事、無論大小、僕人全不知道。』

掃羅對他說：『你為甚麼和耶西的兒子共謀來害我，將食物和刀給他，又為他求問上帝，鼓動他做仇敵來害我，就如今日的光景呢？』

大衛又說：『基伊拉公民會不會將我和跟從我的人送交掃羅手裏呢？』永恆主說：『會送交的。』
