我用我的聲音向耶和華哀求，用我的聲音向耶和華懇求。我在他面前傾吐我的苦情，在他面前陳說我的患難。我的靈在我裡面虛弱時，你知道我的道路；在我所行的路上，他們為我暗設網羅。求你向我右邊觀看，沒有人理睬我，我沒有避難的地方，也沒有人顧念我的靈魂！耶和華啊，我向你哀求，說：「你是我的避難所，是我在活人之地繼業的份！」求你留心聽我的呼聲，因為我極其衰微；求你解救我脫離追逼我的人，因為他們比我強大。求你把我的靈魂從被囚之地領出來，好讓我稱頌你的名；義人將環繞我，因為你恩待我。

我要時時頌讚耶和華，常常在我的口中讚美他。

他們是這世界不配有的。他們在曠野、山嶺、岩穴、地洞中漂流無定。

那天，大衛動身，從掃羅面前逃走，逃到了迦特王亞吉那裡。亞吉的臣僕對亞吉說：「這不是那地的王大衛嗎？關於這人，他們不是跳舞歌唱說：『掃羅擊殺千千，大衛擊殺萬萬』嗎？」大衛把這些話放在心上，就很懼怕迦特王亞吉，於是在他們眼前裝瘋，在他們手下假裝癲狂，在城門的門扇上亂畫，任唾沫流到鬍鬚上。亞吉對臣僕們說：「你們看，這人在發瘋！你們為什麼把他帶到我這裡來呢？我缺少發瘋的人嗎？你們竟然把這人帶來，在我面前發瘋。這個人怎麼可以進我的宮殿呢？」

收割的時候，三十個頭領中的那三個人下去，到亞杜蘭山洞去見大衛。有一隊非利士人在利乏音谷紮營。那時大衛在要塞中，而非利士人的駐軍在伯利恆。
