祭司答道：“你在以拉谷杀的非利士人歌利亚的刀在这里，用布包着放在以弗得后面。如果你要就拿去吧，这里没有别的刀了。”大卫答道：“这刀再好不过了，把它给我吧。”

祭司回答：“有一把刀，是你从前在以拉谷击杀的那非利士人歌利亚的刀。这刀用布包着，放在以弗得后面，你若是要拿去自用，就拿去吧，因为这里除了这刀以外，再没有别的武器了。”大卫说：“没有比这更好的刀了，请你给我吧！”

祭司回答：“你在以拉溪谷击杀的那非利士人歌利亚的刀，看哪，用布蒙着，放在以弗得后面。如果你要拿走它，就拿走吧；除此以外，这里没有别的。”大卫说：“没有比它更好的了，把它给我吧！”

祭司說：「你在以拉谷殺非利士人歌利亞的那刀在這裏，裹在布中，放在以弗得後邊，你要就可以拿去；除此以外，再沒有別的。」大衛說：「這刀沒有可比的！求你給我。」

祭司說：「你在以拉谷所殺的非利士人歌利亞的那刀，看哪，裹在布中，放在以弗得後邊。你若要可以拿去，除此以外，再沒有別的了。」大衛說：「沒有甚麼可以跟它比的了！請你給我。」

The priest replied,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.” David said,“ There is none like it; give it to me.”

The priest replied,“ The sword of Goliath, the Philistine, is here. You killed him in the Valley of Elah. His sword is wrapped in a cloth. It’s behind the sacred linen apron. If you want it, take it. It’s the only sword here.” David said,“ There isn’t any sword like it. Give it to me.”

And the priest said,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you struck down in the Valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it, for there is none but that here.” And David said,“ There is none like that; give it to me.”

The priest replied,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want to take it for yourself, then take it, for there isn’t another one here.”“ There’s none like it!” David said.“ Give it to me.”

Then the priest said,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if you would take it for yourself, take it. For there is no other except it here.” And David said,“ There is none like it; give it to me.”

So the priest said,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said,“ There is none like it; give it to me.”

And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it; for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

The priest replied,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want to take it for yourself, then take it, for there isn’t another one here.”“ There’s none like it!” David said.“ Give it to me.”

And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it[ is here] wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take[ it]: for[ there is] no other save that here. And David said,[ There is] none like that; give it me.

The priest replied,“ The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you struck down in the valley of Elah, is wrapped in a garment behind the ephod. If you wish, take it for yourself. Other than that, there’s nothing here.” David said,“ There’s nothing like it! Give it to me!”

The priest said,“ Behold, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you would like to take that, take it; for there is no other except that here.” David said,“ There is none like that. Give it to me.”

Saul countered by gathering his Israelite troops near the valley of Elah.

They placed his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths, and they fastened his body to the wall of the city of Beth shan.

“ The craftsmen must make the ephod of finely woven linen and skillfully embroider it with gold and with blue, purple, and scarlet thread.It will consist of two pieces, front and back, joined at the shoulders with two shoulder pieces.The decorative sash will be made of the same materials: finely woven linen embroidered with gold and with blue, purple, and scarlet thread.“ Take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the tribes of Israel.Six names will be on each stone, arranged in the order of the births of the original sons of Israel.Engrave these names on the two stones in the same way a jeweler engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in settings of gold filigree.Fasten the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as a reminder that Aaron represents the people of Israel. Aaron will carry these names on his shoulders as a constant reminder whenever he goes before the Lord.Make the settings of gold filigree,then braid two cords of pure gold and attach them to the filigree settings on the shoulders of the ephod.

So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword.Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they turned and ran.Then the men of Israel and Judah gave a great shout of triumph and rushed after the Philistines, chasing them as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron. The bodies of the dead and wounded Philistines were strewn all along the road from Shaaraim, as far as Gath and Ekron.Then the Israelite army returned and plundered the deserted Philistine camp.( David took the Philistine’s head to Jerusalem, but he stored the man’s armor in his own tent.)
