Jonathan said,“ Far be it from you! For if I in fact learn that my father has decided to inflict harm on you, would I not inform you?”

约拿单说：“你绝不会有事的！况且如果我确实知道我父亲已经决意要加害你，我会不告诉你吗？”

約拿單說：「斷無此事！我若知道我父親決意害你，我豈不告訴你呢？」

約拿單說：「絕無此事！我若確實知道我父親決意害你，怎麼會不告訴你呢？」

約拿單說：「絕無此事！我若確實知道我父親決意害你，怎麼會不告訴你呢？」

約拿單答道：「我決不會這樣做。如果我知道我父親決意要殺你，我怎能不通知你呢？」

約拿單說：“絕對沒有這事，如果我知道我父親決意要害你，我會不告訴你嗎？”

約拿單說：『你絕對不至於如此。我若準知道我父親決定要加害於你，我還有不告訴你的麼？』

約拿單說：「你絕不會有事的！況且如果我確實知道我父親已經決意要加害你，我會不告訴你嗎？」

約拿單曰、決不為此、我若確知我父決意害爾、豈不以告、

約拿單曰、如我知父欲害爾、則必相告、我不敢隱。

約拿單曰、斷不若是、如我父決意加害於爾、我豈能不告爾、

“ Never!” Jonathan said.“ If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you?”

“ I would never do that!” Jonathan said.“ Suppose I had even the smallest clue that my father had made up his mind to harm you. Then I would tell you.”

And Jonathan said,“ Far be it from you! If I knew that it was determined by my father that harm should come to you, would I not tell you?”

“ Never!” Jonathan exclaimed.“ You know that if I had the slightest notion my father was planning to kill you, I would tell you at once.”

“ No!” Jonathan responded.“ If I ever find out my father has evil intentions against you, wouldn’t I tell you about it?”

But Jonathan said,“ Far be it from you! For if I knew certainly that evil was determined by my father to come upon you, then would I not tell you?”

And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

“ No!” Jonathan responded.“ If I ever find out my father has evil intentions against you, wouldn’t I tell you about it?”

And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

Jonathan said,“ Far be it from you to suggest this! If I were at all aware that my father had decided to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you about it?”

Jonathan said,“ Far be it from you; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then wouldn’t I tell you that?”

Then Jonathan said to David,“ Go in safety, since we have sworn to each other in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ The Lord will be between me and you, and between my descendants and your descendants forever.’ ” So David set out and went on his way, while Jonathan went into the city.

So Jonathan informed David, saying,“ My father Saul is seeking to put you to death. Now then, please be on your guard in the morning, and stay in a hiding place and conceal yourself.

Then Jonathan called after the boy,“ Hurry, be quick, do not stay!” And Jonathan’s boy picked up the arrow and came to his master.
