“ That will never happen!” Jonathan replied.“ You aren’t going to die! My father doesn’t do anything at all without letting me know. So why would he hide this from me? He isn’t going to kill you!”

约拿单回答说：“断然不是！你必不致死。我父做事，无论大小，没有不叫我知道的。怎么独有这事隐瞒我呢？决不如此。”

约拿单对他说：“绝无此事！你必不至于死。看哪，我父做事，无论大小，没有不告诉我的。我父亲为什么要隐瞒我这件事呢？不会这样的！”

约拿单对他说：“绝无此事！你必不至于死。看哪，我父做事，无论大小，没有不告诉我的。我父亲为什么要隐瞒我这件事呢？不会这样的！”

约拿单答道：“绝无此事，你不会死的！我父亲事无大小都会告诉我的，他不会瞒着我这件事，不会的。”

约拿单对他说：“绝对没有这事，你必不会死。我父亲作事，无论大小，没有不让我知道的，为什么这事他偏要隐瞒我呢？不会这样的。”

约拿单回答他：“绝对没有，你不会死的。看哪，我父亲做事，无论大小没有不告诉我的，我父亲怎么会向我隐瞒这事呢？没有这样的事！”

約拿單回答說：「斷然不是！你必不致死。我父做事，無論大小，沒有不叫我知道的。怎麼獨有這事隱瞞我呢？決不如此。」

約拿單對他說：「絕無此事！你必不至於死。看哪，我父做事，無論大小，沒有不告訴我的。我父親為甚麼要隱瞞我這件事呢？不會這樣的！」

約拿單對他說：「絕無此事！你必不至於死。看哪，我父做事，無論大小，沒有不告訴我的。我父親為甚麼要隱瞞我這件事呢？不會這樣的！」

約拿單答道：「絕無此事，你不會死的！我父親事無大小都會告訴我的，他不會瞞著我這件事，不會的。」

約拿單對他說：“絕對沒有這事，你必不會死。我父親作事，無論大小，沒有不讓我知道的，為甚麼這事他偏要隱瞞我呢？不會這樣的。”

約拿單對他說：『你絕對不至於死：我父親作的、無論大小事，沒有不向我披露的；為甚麼這事我父親偏要對我隱瞞呢？決無此理。』

約拿單回答他：「絕對沒有，你不會死的。看哪，我父親做事，無論大小沒有不告訴我的，我父親怎麼會向我隱瞞這事呢？沒有這樣的事！」

約拿單曰、不然、爾必不死、我父所為、事之巨細、無不示我、豈獨隱此於我、無是事也、

曰、爾斷勿死、我父所為、無論鉅細、必以告我、豈為此隱於我乎。必無是事。

曰、爾斷不致死、我父所為、無論大小、無不先告我者、豈獨隱此事於我乎、必無是事、

“ Never!” Jonathan replied.“ You are not going to die! Look, my father doesn’t do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why would he hide this from me? It isn’t so!”

And he said to him,“ Far from it! You shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without disclosing it to me. And why should my father hide this from me? It is not so.”

“ That’s not true!” Jonathan protested.“ You’re not going to die. He always tells me everything he’s going to do, even the little things. I know my father wouldn’t hide something like this from me. It just isn’t so!”

Jonathan said to him,“ No, you won’t die. Listen, my father doesn’t do anything, great or small, without telling me. So why would he hide this matter from me? This can’t be true.”

He said to him,“ Far from it, you shall not die! Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without informing me. So why would my father hide this thing from me? It is not so!”

So Jonathan said to him,“ By no means! You shall not die! Indeed, my father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me. And why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so!”

And he said unto him, Far from it; thou shalt not die: behold, my father doeth nothing either great or small, but that he discloseth it unto me; and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.

Jonathan said to him,“ No, you won’t die. Listen, my father doesn’t do anything, great or small, without telling me. So why would he hide this matter from me? This can’t be true.”

And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it[ is] not[ so].

Jonathan said to him,“ By no means are you going to die! My father does nothing large or small without making me aware of it. Why would my father hide this matter from me? It just won’t happen!”

He said to him,“ Far from it; you will not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small, but that he discloses it to me. Why would my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.”

The Lord and King has unplugged my ears. I’ve always obeyed him. I haven’t turned away from him.

Then the people answered Joshua,“ We would never desert the Lord! We would never serve other gods!

The Lord had spoken to Samuel the day before Saul came. He had said,

Then Jonathan spoke to David. He said,“ I promise you that I’ll find out what my father is planning to do. I’ll find out by this time the day after tomorrow. The Lord, the God of Israel, is my witness. Suppose my father has kind feelings toward you. Then I’ll send you a message and let you know.

He will come and kill them. He will give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said,“ We hope this never happens!”

“ We would never refuse to obey the Lord. We would never turn away from him now. We wouldn’t build an altar to offer burnt offerings, grain offerings and sacrifices on it. We wouldn’t use any altar other than the altar of the Lord our God. That altar stands in front of his holy tent.”

But the men said to Saul,“ Should Jonathan be put to death? Never! He has saved Israel in a wonderful way. He did it today with God’s help. You can be sure that the Lord lives. And you can be just as sure that not even one hair on Jonathan’s head will fall to the ground.” So the men rescued Jonathan. He wasn’t put to death.

I gave them the words you gave me. And they accepted them. They knew for certain that I came from you. They believed that you sent me.

But they said to him,“ Why do you say these things? We would never do anything like that!

I do not call you slaves anymore. Slaves do not know their master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends. I have told you everything I learned from my Father.

You didn’t want sacrifices and offerings. You didn’t require burnt offerings and sin offerings. You opened my ears so that I could hear you and obey you.
