When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and asked,“ Am I God, killing and giving life, that this man expects me to cure a man of his skin disease? Recognize that he is only picking a fight with me.”

I called to the LORD in my distress, and he answered me. I cried out for help from deep inside Sheol; you heard my voice.When you threw me into the depths, into the heart of the seas, the current overcame me. All your breakers and your billows swept over me.And I said,“ I have been banished from your sight, yet I will look once more toward your holy temple.”The water engulfed me up to the neck; the watery depths overcame me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.I sank to the foundations of the mountains, the earth’s gates shut behind me forever! Then you raised my life from the Pit, LORD my God!

For he wounds but he also bandages; he strikes, but his hands also heal.

and the Living One. I was dead, but look— I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Come, let’s return to the LORD. For he has torn us, and he will heal us; he has wounded us, and he will bind up our wounds.He will revive us after two days, and on the third day he will raise us up so we can live in his presence.

But David said,“ Your father certainly knows that I have found favor with you. He has said,‘ Jonathan must not know of this, or else he will be grieved.’” David also swore,“ As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, there is but a step between me and death.”

Our God is a God of salvation, and escape from death belongs to the LORD my Lord.

Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.

Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and he will deliver us. We have put our hope in him that he will deliver us again

For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

“ Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself.And he has granted him the right to pass judgment, because he is the Son of Man.Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voiceand come out— those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of condemnation.

The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.
