你家中的人，我没有从我坛前剪除的，必使你眼睛失明，心中忧伤。你家中所添的人口都必夭折。

Every one of you that I do not cut off from serving at my altar I will spare only to destroy your sight and sap your strength, and all your descendants will die in the prime of life.

I will prevent the members of your family from serving me at my altar. I will destroy the eyesight of all of you I allow to live. I will also cause you to lose your strength. And everyone in your family line will die while they are still young.

The only one of you whom I shall not cut off from my altar shall be spared to weep his eyes out to grieve his heart, and all the descendants of your house shall die by the sword of men.

The few not cut off from serving at my altar will survive, but only so their eyes can go blind and their hearts break, and their children will die a violent death.

Any man from your family I do not cut off from my altar will bring grief and sadness to you. All your descendants will die violently.

Yet I will not cut off every man of yours from My altar, so that your eyes will fail from weeping and your soul grieve, and all the increase of your house will die in the prime of life.

But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age.

And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thy heart; and all the increase of thy house shall die in the flower of their age.

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突归自己的田地去吧！你本是该死的，但因你在我父亲大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，又与我父亲同受一切苦难，所以我今日不杀死你。”所罗门就革除亚比亚他，不让他作耶和华的祭司。这就应验了耶和华在示罗论以利家所说的话。

他献许多牛羊、肥犊为祭，请了王的众儿子和亚比亚他祭司，以及约押元帅，他却没有请王的仆人所罗门。

亚比亚他把扫罗杀耶和华祭司的事告诉大卫。大卫对亚比亚他说：“那日我见以东人多益在那里，就知道他一定会告诉扫罗。你父的全家丧命，都是因我的缘故。你可以住在我这里，不要惧怕。因为寻索你命的也要寻索我的命，你在我这里可得保护。”

亚多尼雅与洗鲁雅的儿子约押和亚比亚他祭司商议；他们就顺从亚多尼雅，帮助他。

希律见自己被博学之士愚弄，极其愤怒，差人将伯利恒城里和四境所有的男孩，根据他向博学之士仔细查问到的时间，凡两岁以内的，都杀尽了。这就应验了耶利米先知所说的话：“在拉玛听见号啕大哭的声音，是拉结哭她儿女；她不肯受安慰，因为他们都不在了。”
