“ Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi would always be my priests. But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.

“ Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares:‘ I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares:‘ Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.

“ The Lord is the God of Israel. He announced,‘ I promised that members of your family line would serve me as priests forever.’ But now the Lord announces,‘ I will not let that happen! I will honor those who honor me. But I will turn away from those who look down on me.

Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares:‘ I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares:‘ Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

“ Therefore, this is the declaration of the LORD, the God of Israel:‘ I did say that your family and your forefather’s family would walk before me forever. But now,’ this is the LORD’s declaration,‘ no longer! For those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disgraced.

Therefore the Lord God of Israel declares,‘ I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father was to walk before Me forever’; but now the Lord declares,‘ Far be it from Me— for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be insignificant.

Therefore the Lord God of Israel says:‘ I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says:‘ Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

Therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now Jehovah saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

“ Therefore, this is the declaration of the Lord, the God of Israel:‘ Although I said your family and your ancestral house would walk before Me forever, the Lord now says,“ No longer!” I will honor those who honor Me, but those who despise Me will be disgraced.

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed[ that] thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says,‘ I really did say that your house and your ancestor’s house would serve me forever.’ But now the LORD says,‘ May it never be! For I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be cursed!

“ Therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,‘ I said indeed that your house and the house of your father should walk before me forever.’ But now Yahweh says,‘ Far be it from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me will be cursed.

Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom,but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.

And so the Lord says,“ These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man made rules learned by rote.

Wrap the sashes around the waists of Aaron and his sons, and put their special head coverings on them. Then the right to the priesthood will be theirs by law forever. In this way, you will ordain Aaron and his sons.

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says to the priests:“ A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where are the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name!“ But you ask,‘ How have we ever shown contempt for your name?’

I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold— though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

“ Then they said to the fig tree,‘ You be our king!’

Why, then, have you despised the word of the Lord and done this horrible deed? For you have murdered Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites and stolen his wife.From this time on, your family will live by the sword because you have despised me by taking Uriah’s wife to be your own.

As soon as Judas left the room, Jesus said,“ The time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory, and God will be glorified because of him.And since God receives glory because of the Son, he will give his own glory to the Son, and he will do so at once.

“ Phinehas son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron the priest has turned my anger away from the Israelites by being as zealous among them as I was. So I stopped destroying all Israel as I had intended to do in my zealous anger.Now tell him that I am making my special covenant of peace with him.In this covenant, I give him and his descendants a permanent right to the priesthood, for in his zeal for me, his God, he purified the people of Israel, making them right with me.”

The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence.

“ After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.

But you priests have left God’s paths. Your instructions have caused many to stumble into sin. You have corrupted the covenant I made with the Levites,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ So I have made you despised and humiliated in the eyes of all the people. For you have not obeyed me but have shown favoritism in the way you carry out my instructions.”

The Lord says,“ I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.

so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.

and he went out to meet King Asa as he was returning from the battle.“ Listen to me, Asa!” he shouted.“ Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying,“ Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”

You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord, who lives among the people of Israel.”

“ No,” Jesus said,“ I have no demon in me. For I honor my Father— and you dishonor me.

No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God.

So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time— before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.

These must be worn whenever Aaron and his sons enter the Tabernacle or approach the altar in the Holy Place to perform their priestly duties. Then they will not incur guilt and die. This is a permanent law for Aaron and all his descendants after him.
