If you don’t, I’ll take it by force!”So the servants’ sin was very severe in the presence of the LORD, because the men treated the LORD’s offering with contempt.

Her priests do violence to my instruction and profane my holy things. They make no distinction between the holy and the common, and they do not explain the difference between the clean and the unclean. They close their eyes to my Sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges over Israel.

“‘ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?Then do you come and stand before me in this house that bears my name and say,“ We are rescued, so we can continue doing all these detestable acts”?

The same judgment will happen to both people and priests. I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have abandoned their devotion to the LORD.Promiscuity, wine, and new wine take away one’s understanding.
