He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The Lord won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?”

He put his own life in danger when he killed Goliath. The Lord used him to win a great battle for the whole nation of Israel. When you saw it, you were glad. So why would you do anything to harm a man like David? He isn’t guilty of doing anything to harm you. Why would you want to kill him without any reason?”

For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?”

Have you forgotten about the time he risked his life to kill the Philistine giant and how the Lord brought a great victory to all Israel as a result? You were certainly happy about it then. Why should you murder an innocent man like David? There is no reason for it at all!”

But Saul said,“ Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel.”

But they stationed themselves in the middle of that field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory.

And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him,“ Why should he be killed? What has he done?”

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said,“ What is that to us? You see to it!”

for my father fought for you, risked his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian;

And the woman came to Saul and saw that he was severely troubled, and said to him,“ Look, your maidservant has obeyed your voice, and I have put my life in my hands and heeded the words which you spoke to me.

My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law.

So when I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the people of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?”

But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

Those who hate me without a cause Are more than the hairs of my head; They are mighty who would destroy me, Being my enemies wrongfully; Though I have stolen nothing, I still must restore it.

Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.Now the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted, and pursued the Philistines as far as the entrance of the valley and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell along the road to Shaaraim, even as far as Gath and Ekron.Then the children of Israel returned from chasing the Philistines, and they plundered their tents.

And Moses said to the people,“ Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.
