He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The Lord won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?”

He put his own life in danger when he killed Goliath. The Lord used him to win a great battle for the whole nation of Israel. When you saw it, you were glad. So why would you do anything to harm a man like David? He isn’t guilty of doing anything to harm you. Why would you want to kill him without any reason?”

For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?”

Have you forgotten about the time he risked his life to kill the Philistine giant and how the Lord brought a great victory to all Israel as a result? You were certainly happy about it then. Why should you murder an innocent man like David? There is no reason for it at all!”

掃羅說：“今天不可以殺人，因為今天是耶和華在以色列中施行拯救的日子。”

他們卻站在那塊田中間，保護了那塊田，擊殺了非利士人；這樣耶和華拯救了以色列人，使他們獲得極大的勝利。

約拿單回答他父親掃羅說：“為甚麼要把他處死呢？他作了甚麼事呢？”

“我有罪了！我出賣了無辜的人﹙“人”原文作“血”。﹚！”他們說：“這是你的事，跟我們有甚麼關係？”

我父親從前冒死為你們爭戰，把你們從米甸人手中救了出來；

那女人來到掃羅面前，見他非常驚慌，就對他說：“你看，婢女聽從了你的話；我冒著生命危險，聽從了你對我所說的話。

我的性命常在危險中，我卻沒有忘記你的律法。

我見你們不來拯救我，我就拚命上去攻擊亞捫人，耶和華就把他們交在我的手裡。你們今日為甚麼上我這裡來攻打我呢？”

但我並不珍惜自己的性命，只求跑完我的路程，完成我從主耶穌所領受的職分，為神恩惠的福音作見證。

因他為了基督的工作，冒著生命的危險，差一點喪了命，為的是要補滿你們服事我不足的地方。

那些無故恨我的，比我的頭髮還多；無理與我為敵，要把我滅絕的，人數眾多。我沒有搶奪過的，竟要我償還。

彼拉多見無濟於事，反會引起騷動，就拿水在群眾面前洗手，說：“流這人的血，與我無關，你們自己負責吧。”

這就應驗了他們律法上所寫的話：‘他們無故地恨我。’

不過你們要確實知道，如果你們殺死我，就必使無辜的人的血歸到你們和這城，以及這城的居民頭上，因為耶和華實在差遣了我到你們中間，把這一切話傳到你們耳中。”

眾民對掃羅說：“約拿單在以色列人中行了這樣大的拯救，難道一定要他死嗎？絕對不可以！我們指著永活的耶和華起誓，連他一根頭髮也不可落在地上，因為他今天是與神一同作工。”這樣，眾民救了約拿單，使他免了一死。

免得無辜人的血，流在耶和華你的神要賜給你作產業的地上，以致流人血的罪歸在你身上。“但是，如果有人恨他的鄰舍，埋伏著等他，起來攻擊他，把他殺死了，然後逃到這些城中的一座；他本城的長老要派人去，把他從那裡帶出來，交在報血仇的人手中，好把他處死。你的眼睛不可顧惜他，卻要把流無辜人的血的罪從以色列中除掉，好使你平安無事。

大衛伸手入口袋裡，從裡面拿出了一塊石子來，用機弦甩去，擊中了那非利士人的前額；石子穿入前額裡面，他就仆倒，面伏於地。這樣，大衛用機弦和一塊石子勝過了那非利士人。大衛擊殺了那非利士人，但他手中沒有刀。大衛跑過去，站在那非利士人的身邊，拿起他的刀來，把刀從鞘中拔出來，殺死他，又用刀砍下他的頭。非利士人看見他們的勇士死了，就都逃跑。以色列人和猶大人就起來，高聲吶喊，追趕非利士人，直到迦特（按照《馬索拉文本》，“迦特”作“山谷”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）的入口和以革倫的城門。被刺死的非利士人都倒在沙拉音的路上，直到迦特和以革倫。以色列人窮追非利士人回來以後，就搶掠他們的營房。

摩西對人民說：“不要懼怕，要站著，觀看耶和華今天為你們施行的拯救；因為你們今天看見的埃及人，必永遠不再看見了。

如果我們忽略了這麼大的救恩，怎麼能逃罪呢？這救恩起初是由主親自宣講的，後來聽見的人給我們證實了。

等候你的必不羞愧，但那些無故以詭詐待人的必要羞愧。
