When Saul and his attendant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God took control of him, and he prophesied along with them.

After this I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, and your young men will see visions.

Then the temple police came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them,“ Why haven’t you brought Him?”The police answered,“ No man ever spoke like this!”Then the Pharisees responded to them:“ Are you fooled too?Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”Nicodemus— the one who came to Him previously, being one of them— said to them,“ Our law doesn’t judge a man before it hears from him and knows what he’s doing, does it?”“ You aren’t from Galilee too, are you?” they replied.“ Investigate and you will see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

But the person who prophesies speaks to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation.

Then the Lord descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the 70 elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again.Two men had remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the other Medad; the Spirit rested on them— they were among those listed, but had not gone out to the tent— and they prophesied in the camp.
