掃羅向約拿單擲槍要刺他，約拿單就知道他父親決意要殺死大衛。

掃羅把槍一擲，心裏說：「我要將大衛刺透，釘在牆上。」大衛閃避了他兩次。

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略抵擋耶和華。

他們白晝遇見黑暗，午間摸索如在夜間。上帝拯救貧窮人脫離殘暴人的手，脫離他們口中的刀。

凡為攻擊你而造的兵器必無效用；在審判時興起用口舌攻擊你的，你必駁倒他。這是耶和華僕人的產業，是他們從我所得的義；這是耶和華說的。

他卻從他們中間穿過去，走了。

有人在這城迫害你們，就逃到另一城去。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城鎮，你們還沒有走遍，人子就要來臨。

倘若他們因認識我們的主和救主耶穌基督而得以脫離世上的污穢，後來又被污穢纏住，被制伏，他們末後的景況就比先前更不好了。他們知道義路，竟背棄了傳授給他們那神聖的誡命，倒不如不知道為妙。俗語說得好，這話正印證在他們身上了：「狗轉過來吃自己所吐的；」又說：「豬洗淨了，又回到爛泥裏打滾。」

於是，他們又要捉拿他，他卻從他們手中逃脫了。

義人多有苦難，但耶和華救他脫離這一切，

「污靈離了人身，走遍無水之地尋找安歇之處，卻找不到。於是他說：『我要回到我原來的屋裏去。』他到了，看見裏面空着，打掃乾淨，修飾好了，就去另帶了七個比自己更惡的靈來，都進去住在那裏。那人後來的景況比先前更壞了。這邪惡的世代也要如此。」

他救我脫離強敵和那些恨我的人，因為他們比我強盛。

以法蓮哪，我可以向你怎樣行呢？猶大啊，我可以向你怎樣做呢？因為你們的慈愛如同早晨的雲霧，又如速散的露水。

掃羅聽了約拿單的話，就指着永生的耶和華起誓：「我絕不殺他。」

我們好像雀鳥，從捕鳥人的羅網裏逃脫，羅網破裂，我們就逃脫了。
