掃羅就更加懼怕大衛，終生與大衛為敵。

我也看到，一切的勞苦和各樣工作的技能，都是出於人與鄰人之間的嫉妒。這也是虛空，也是捕風！

至於亞伯，他帶來了自己羊群中最好的頭生羊。耶和華看重了亞伯和他的供物，卻沒有看重該隱和他的供物。該隱就極其惱火，他的臉沉了下來。耶和華對該隱說：「你為什麼惱火呢？你的臉為什麼沉下來呢——如果你做得好，能不蒙悅納嗎？如果你做得不好，罪就伏在門口了；它必戀慕你，而你要管轄它。」該隱與他的弟弟亞伯說話。他們在田野的時候，該隱就起來攻擊他的弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。

掃羅懼怕大衛，因為耶和華與大衛同在，卻離開了掃羅。

惡人決意要對付義人，向他咬牙切齒。但主必譏笑惡人，因為見他受罰的日子將要來到。惡人已經拔出刀劍，拉開了弓，要使困苦人和貧窮人倒下，要殺戮行為正直的人。

掃羅見他行事極其通達，就懼怕他。

從那天起，他們就商議要把耶穌殺掉。

不要像該隱，他屬於那惡者，殺了自己的弟弟。他為什麼殺弟弟呢？因為他自己的行為是惡的，而他弟弟的行為是義的。弟兄們，如果世界恨你們，不要感到驚奇。我們知道，因為我們愛弟兄，我們就已經出死入生了；那不愛弟兄的，就住在死亡中。凡是恨自己弟兄的，就是殺人的，而你們知道：凡是殺人的，就沒有永恆的生命住在他裡面。

你相信神只有一位，你就做得很好！連鬼魔也相信，並且恐懼戰兢。
