Saul’s attendants spoke those very words to David. But David said,“ Do you think it’s a small thing to become the king’s son- in- law? I’m only a poor man. I’m not very well known.”

扫罗的臣仆把这话告诉了大卫，大卫却说：“做王的女婿岂是一件小事呢？我不过是个贫穷卑微的人。”

于是扫罗的臣仆把这些话说给大卫听。大卫说：“你们以为作王的女婿是一件小事吗？我是个贫穷卑微的人。”

扫罗的臣仆们就把这些话说给大卫听。大卫说：“难道作王的女婿在你们眼中算为小事吗？我不过是个贫穷、卑微的人。”

掃羅的臣僕就照這話說給大衛聽。大衛說：「你們以為作王的女婿是一件小事嗎？我是貧窮卑微的人。」

於是掃羅的臣僕把這些話說給大衛聽。大衛說：“你們以為作王的女婿是一件小事嗎？我是個貧窮卑微的人。”

掃羅的臣僕就將這話說給大衛聽。大衛說：『你們以為做王的女婿是件輕微的事麼？我，我是個窮乏輕微的人哪。』

掃羅的臣僕們就把這些話說給大衛聽。大衛說：「難道作王的女婿在你們眼中算為小事嗎？我不過是個貧窮、卑微的人。」

臣僕以此言告大衛、大衛曰、我素貧賤、為王之壻、爾以為細事乎、

僕如是以告。大闢曰、我素貧乏、為人藐視、為王之壻、豈易易哉、

掃羅臣僕以此言告大衛、大衛曰、我素貧且賤、爾意為王之壻乃細事乎、

They repeated these words to David. But David said,“ Do you think it is a small matter to become the king’s son-in-law? I’m only a poor man and little known.”

And Saul’s servants spoke those words in the ears of David. And David said,“ Does it seem to you a little thing to become the king’s son-in-law, since I am a poor man and have no reputation?”

When Saul’s men said these things to David, he replied,“ How can a poor man from a humble family afford the bride price for the daughter of a king?”

Saul’s servants reported these words directly to David, but he replied,“ Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son-in-law? I am a poor commoner.”

So Saul’s servants spoke these words to David. But David said,“ Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son in law, since I am only a poor man and insignificant?”

So Saul’s servants spoke those words in the hearing of David. And David said,“ Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?”

And Saul’s servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be the king’s son- in- law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?

Saul’s servants reported these words directly to David, but he replied,“ Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son-in-law? I am a poor man who is common.”

And Saul’s servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you[ a] light[ thing] to be a king’s son in law, seeing that I[ am] a poor man, and lightly esteemed?

So Saul’s servants spoke these words privately to David. David replied,“ Is becoming the king’s son-in-law something insignificant to you? I’m just a poor and lightly-esteemed man!”

Saul’s servants spoke those words in the ears of David. David said,“ Does it seem to you a light thing to be the king’s son- in- law, since I am a poor man, and little known?”

I’m not important. People look down on me. But I don’t forget to obey your rules.

Poor people are avoided even by their neighbors. But rich people have many friends.

See what amazing love the Father has given us! Because of it, we are called children of God. And that’s what we really are! The world doesn’t know us because it didn’t know him.

A certain man lived in that city. He was poor but wise. He used his wisdom to save the city. But no one remembered that poor man.So I said,“ It’s better to be wise than to be powerful.” But people look down on the poor man’s wisdom. No one pays any attention to what he says.

Many try to win the favor of rulers. And everyone is the friend of a person who gives gifts.Poor people are avoided by their whole family. Their friends avoid them even more. The poor person runs after his friends to beg for help. But they can’t be found.

Saul answered,“ But I’m from the tribe of Benjamin. It’s the smallest tribe in Israel. And my family group is the least important in the whole tribe of Benjamin. So why are you saying that to me?”
