The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand

The next day an evil spirit sent by God came powerfully on Saul. Saul began to prophesy in his house. At that same time David began to play the harp, just as he usually did. Saul was holding a spear.

The next day a harmful spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand.

The very next day a tormenting spirit from God overwhelmed Saul, and he began to rave in his house like a madman. David was playing the harp, as he did each day. But Saul had a spear in his hand,

Now it came about on the next day that an evil spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved in the midst of the house while David was playing the harp with his hand, as usual; and a spear was in Saul’s hand.

And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul’s hand.

An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.

As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.

Yahweh said,‘ Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One said one thing; and another said another.A spirit came out and stood before Yahweh, and said,‘ I will entice him.’Yahweh said to him,‘ How?’ He said,‘ I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said,‘ You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”

When the spirit from God was on Saul, David took the harp, and played with his hand; so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

When midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the evening offering; but there was no voice, no answer, and nobody paid attention.

Now therefore, please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is so that Yahweh has stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering. But if it is the children of men, they are cursed before Yahweh; for they have driven me out today that I shouldn’t cling to Yahweh’s inheritance, saying,‘ Go, serve other gods!’

Now Yahweh’s Spirit departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh troubled him.Saul’s servants said to him,“ See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.Let our lord now command your servants who are in front of you to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. Then when the evil spirit from God is on you, he will play with his hand, and you will be well.”

He went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then God’s Spirit came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.He also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say,“ Is Saul also among the prophets?”

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh’s house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried to Babylon.I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, who went to Babylon,’ says Yahweh;‘ for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”

Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying,“ Yahweh says:‘ Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from off the neck of all the nations within two full years.’” Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

It will come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they will be remembered no more. I will also cause the prophets and the spirit of impurity to pass out of the land.It will happen that, when anyone still prophesies, then his father and his mother who bore him will tell him,‘ You must die, because you speak lies in Yahweh’s name;’ and his father and his mother who bore him will stab him when he prophesies.It will happen in that day, that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive:but he will say,‘ I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground; for I have been made a bondservant from my youth.’

All the prophets prophesied so, saying,“ Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
